Tom Cruise Reportedly Calls Nicole Kidman’s Divorce From Keith Urban “Karma” in Private

Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban shocked fans earlier this year when they quietly ended their 19-year marriage. The official reason was the usual “irreconcilable differences,” but the split still caught a lot of people off guard.

Now it looks like Nicole’s famous ex-husband, Tom Cruise, has some strong feelings about it too, at least according to sources close to him.

Tom and Nicole were the Hollywood power couple back in the ’90s. They met on the set of Days of Thunder, got married in 1990, adopted two kids (Isabella and Connor), and seemed unstoppable… until everything fell apart in 2001. The divorce was messy, and the media largely painted Tom as the villain while Nicole played the sympathetic heartbroken wife.

One moment that still gets brought up is Nicole’s appearance on David Letterman shortly after the split. When Letterman jokingly asked how the divorce was going, she smiled and said, “Well, I can wear high heels now,” which got huge laughs and applause. That little dig at Tom’s height (he’s famously sensitive about it) stuck with him for years, apparently.

Fast forward to 2025, and insiders are now claiming that when Tom heard Nicole and Keith were divorcing, his reaction wasn’t exactly full of sympathy.

According to people who spoke to outlets like the Mirror and International Business Times, Tom has privately referred to the breakup as “karma.” One source said he felt Nicole got all the public love and he got all the blame back in 2001, even though he never trash-talked her in the press.

“He was really stung by the way she handled things,” the insider claimed. “She went on TV, made the height joke, painted herself as the victim, and he just stayed quiet and took it.”

Another source added that while part of him feels bad for Nicole because he knows divorce hurts, another part of him quietly thinks, “See? I wasn’t the only one who couldn’t make it work with her.”

Of course, none of this has been confirmed by Tom himself; he’s stayed completely silent publicly, just like he did two decades ago. So take it with the usual celebrity gossip grain of salt.

Still… if even half of this is true, there’s clearly some lingering bitterness on his side after all these years.

What do you think, is it fair for him to feel this way after how their divorce played out in the media, or should he just let it go after 24 years? Drop your thoughts below! 👇
